The LongView Farms General Partnership was formed in 2011, but the beginning of the central Iowa farming operation goes back four generations.
It all began when Kenneth and Louise Long moved their farming operation from Monona County, Iowa, to Story County in 1955, in search of more productive farm ground. Their daughter Frances, and son-in law, Richard Henry, later joined them and continued farming until their retirement. Son Steve (and Laurie) Henry joined the farming operation in 1988 after pursuing other ag-related career paths following graduation from Iowa State University. Similarly, two of their three sons, Scott and Eric Henry, returned to the operation in recent years. Both were also Iowa State University graduates and pursued off-farm careers prior to returning to lead the operation today.
Our production practices today incorporate cutting-edge technology in a practical manner, which allows us individually and collectively to be the best we can be. As our name implies, we take the “Long View” as we look to be involved in agriculture in the future, while maintaining a respect for the heritage that got us where we are today.
